Ambulance/EMT Visit

Today the students learned all about what  EMTs do.  They learned that they respond to emergency calls, perform certain medical procedures and transport patients to hospitals. Some work in an ambulance service and some work as part of an allied service such as the fire or police department. Today, the very patient band of EMTs that came to visit with us, told the children that they are trained to assess a patient’s condition, and to perform such emergency medical procedures as may be needed needed. The wonderful EMT’s took the children for rides on their stretchers and mobile chairs, showed them how to take blood pressure, modeled the use of a defillabrator, gave oxygen and generally made ithe children feel that if they ever needed a ride in an ambulance, they would have enough knowledge to be very brave!  Thank you for all you taught them today, Mr. Meyer!  It was a wonderful learning experience. The children especially loved your teaching toys. A special thanks to all of the EMT’s who volunteered to spend almost 2 hours with our kindergarten children.  They were so kind and wonderful.  The children really had a ball!

End-of-year Picnic

The weather was perfect, the venue was perfect, and the children were perfect!  What more could we ask of our day spent with parents, grandparents, teachers and students!  Willowbrook Park and the Carousel For All Children was such an exciting spot for our final celebration before graduation.  Class Moms outdid themselves, setting up our picnic spot early with tablecloths and balloons.  After we arrived, it was non-stop fun, with games, tattoos, snacks, jungle gym, rides on the carousel, lunch, more games, and more rides!  We all had a ball!  Special thanks to Anne Divers, without whom this day would never have come together!

Grandparent’s Day

Grand parent’s Day was GRAND!  The day began with mass and awards, then the students got a chance to perform on the stage for the grandparents.  Each grade did a song or poem.  After the grandparents had lunch they visited the classrooms. The student’s were so excited to share their classroom with their loved ones.  They gave each set of grandparents a beautiful watercolor that they had painted.  Then, as a group, they sang them the “Fifty, Nifty United States” song.  Afterwards they chose their favorite work with their grandparents.  As you can tell from the photos, it was a very happy day for all!
